Cluster Shading - The Next Generation of Esthetic Restoratives
Presenter: Mr. Gregor Connell
The only constant in dental materials is change! Technological and chemical innovations are offering impressive advancements. Today’s conventional composites offer clinicians two options: First, the esthetic traditional layering technique and second, the bulk-fill technique. The former being the choice for most restorations in the anterior smile zone and the latter, often selected for the posterior regions of the mouth. While bulk-fill materials typically are deep-curing, time saving and offer clinical efficiency, they too often lack the esthetic properties required for beautiful esthetically demanding anterior restorations. For this reason, most clinicians have a second composite system in office that is designed to be placed in two-millimeter increments and will sometimes require a variety of shades to meet the esthetic demands. A new next-generation of resin composites is emerging. One that offers you the clinical efficiency of a bulk-fill, with an easy cluster shade-matching protocol and phenomenal esthetics! With outstanding, non-sticky handling and excellent polishability, perhaps now you only need one class of material for all of your restorative needs. At the conclusion of the CE webinar the attendees will have a clearer understanding of the clinical impact that this new chemistry and technology can have on their everyday restorative dentistry. More importantly, the attendees can evaluate if these evolutions may have a place in their own clinical practice.

The Mental Dental Connection: The Secret to Being a Better Clinician and Leader
Presenter: Dr. Joshua Austin
Anxiety, pain, depression, burnout. Dentistry can be difficult and take a toll. Studies show us that dental professionals experience a high incidence of mental illness. Additionally, many dental professionals don’t clearly understand the mental health conditions that our patients present with, which red flags to watch for, or what to do/how to intervene.
Presented in Dr. Joshua Austin’s trademark comedic style, this CE webinar explores strategies for working together to improve mental health so we can be our best. Learn how to recognize triggers and warning signs. Identify essential tools and resources. Discover how and when to refer to a mental health professional. Explore and understand mental health terms, common treatments and therapy options. Gain coping mechanisms and learn how to manage expectations – both our own and those of our patients. Dental professionals often examine the physical aspects of wellness yet we rarely explore or discuss the mental aspects. It is time to remove the taboo and face the facts.

Chairside Challenges, Lifelong Smiles: Dental Care for the Aging Adult
Presenter: Sonya Dunbar, RDH
Oral health for older adults is an increasingly significant challenge in dentistry today. As people age, their risk of developing caries, periodontal disease, and other oral health complications rises. This heightened risk is often exacerbated by systemic health conditions, polypharmacy, and decreased dexterity, which can impact daily hygiene practices. Unlike younger populations, older adults face unique barriers, including complex medical histories, cognitive decline, and notable changes in insurance coverage after retirement. These factors not only affect their access to dental care but also influence how treatments must be planned and delivered. This evidence-based CE webinar equips dental professionals with practical strategies to enhance the quality of care for older adults in dental office settings. Participants will learn to identify the specific caries risk factors associated with aging patients, apply preventive and minimally invasive management strategies, and adjust treatment protocols for medically fragile individuals. The webinar will also address the impact of changing insurance structures after retirement on access to care, as well as how dental teams can navigate these challenges to provide effective and patient-centered outcomes.

Caries and Hypersensitivity Solutions: Navigating CDT Codes with Confidence
Presenter: Kathy S. Forbes, RDH, BS
Dental hygienists play a vital role in delivering preventive oral health care. In recent years, the number of CDT procedure codes related to preventive procedures and products has expanded significantly. Many hygienists may not be fully aware of ADA’s Current Dental Terminology (CDT) descriptors, which outline the rationale and mechanisms of action for these products. As more patients express concerns about fluoride use in caries management, they are turning to hygienists for alternative recommendations to protect against decay. Which products should you choose, and which CDT procedure codes apply? Similarly, hypersensitivity complaints are on the rise. Patients often report, “My teeth are sensitive when you touch them.” What products can you recommend chairside? Which can be sent home? And how do you document the appropriate CDT procedure code? This CE webinar also introduces ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes that will support the medical necessity of preventive and therapeutic procedures. With insurance carriers starting to require these diagnostic codes on the updated 2024 Dental Claim form (Box 34a), understanding how to integrate them into documentation is essential for accurate claim submission and compliance.
