Dental health care practitioners are challenged to continually evaluate current research and incorporate findings into clinical practice to adequately equip their patients with health promotion and preventive strategies. With a paradigm shift from drill and fill to minimally invasive dentistry, which focuses on conservation of tooth structure, a medical model of disease management needs to be incorporated.
