Think about the reasons you don’t vape, or want to stop, and what you would say or do if you ever feel pressured to smoke or vape. How do you talk to your patients or kids about the dangers of vaping? Lots of studies show smoking is harmful. When it comes to vaping, manufacturers don’t yet have to disclose what they put in the liquid, so we don’t know the long-term effects. What we do know is that most vape liquid contains chemicals that can lead to addiction, and may cause cancer. Electronic cigarette users may experience xerostomia and increased risk for tooth decay as a result of the vaporized liquid entering the mouth. Aerosols from vaping irritate the lining of the mucosa and are absorbed into the buccal mucosa and the pharyngeal tissues. Explosions while vaping can lead to severe burns and even death. Nicotine affects brain development, which continues to age 25. It’s time to escape the vape!

Upon completion of the CE webinar, participants will:
• Understand that vaping causes many problems in the oral cavity
• Discuss harmful side effects from vaping
• Explain how the aerosol is created and how it effects the oral cavity
• Identify varnish for destroyed enamel
• Learn about the cariogenic potential of sweet flavors in electronic-cigarette liquids
• Understand the complication of xerostomia from vaping
• Discuss how explosions while vaping and e-cig burn injuries can disfigure oral soft tissue   ( disclaimer , AGD PACE Statement )
