Presenter Bio

Susan Cotten BSDH, RDH, OMT, is a passionate speaker, author, trainer, and oral cancer coach. As founder and CEO of Oral Cancer Consulting, Susan developed the “Cotten MethodTM”,. The “Cotten Method” is an oral cancer office system with protocols that help dentists and dental hygienists feel confident in screening, aids in reducing their liability with consistent and thorough documentation, assists the office in HPV and oral cancer messaging to patients, and supports the team culture by educating all team members about oral cancer and their important role in raising awareness and early detection.

Susan is a 2018 RDH/Sunstar Award of Distinction recipient. She is a 2020 recipient of the Ethyl Covington award and 2018 Outstanding Contribution recipient both from Colorado Dental Hygiene Association. Susan serves as a Director for the Dental Codeology Consortium, a Regional Coordinator and RDH Advisory Board member with The Oral Cancer Foundation, and a board member and oral cancer screening coordinator for Colorado Mission of Mercy. In her 28 years in dental hygiene Susan has worked in private practice and in public health as an Integrative Dental Hygienist in a FQHC. She founded M.A.D. for Healthy Smiles as a member of Donny Osmond’s Make a Difference program and completed advanced course work in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy at the Coulson Institute. She has organized many free oral cancer screening events.
